Homework BEFORE shopping
Twice in the last 6 weeks I've purchased accessories at CW. Both times their online advertised price was lower than the in store price. The first purchase was for an antenna so I researched that beforehand and saved about $60 by showing their website advertised price. The second purchase was an impulse buy. The only reason I discovered the second lower price was because another member claimed that GS member discounts were now honored only for online purchases. That was incorrect. GS member discounts no longer exist.
I could understand how a store would price match someone else's price but making the customer do the work to price match their own price is ridiculous. Neither item said anything about online only price when I checked them.

It looks like the care team and the unhappy customer email address are just shell games. I've contacted both. No response from the email ([email protected]) and only a token response from the 'care team' here (give us your info and we'll check), then crickets.

Everything has a measurable impact on water supply. Letting the water run while brushing your teeth, using an irrigation system on your lawn that floods the street, and yes, black tank flushing. While each of these has minimal impact, add them all up (plus the hundreds of other ways we waste water) and you make a difference. It's the same principle as backpackers drilling holes in their toothbrush handles. Grams make ounces and ounces make pounds. The attitude of 'if it doesn't make a major difference, it doesn't matter' is self defeating.
Are you guys seriously trying to say that RV black tanks have any measurable impacts to water supply and demand and droughts? And further that black tank treatments and chemicals will solve this issue?

Try comprehending this. Assuming that the amount of water on the planet never changes, there is a huge difference between 10,000 nomadic peole using water to drink and bathe, and 8 billion mostly stationary people using water for unnatural landscaping (lawns), washing cars, water fountains, water parks, swimming pools, manufacturing, farming. etc, etc, etc. You can't put that much stress on the finite water supply without consequences.
Maybe you can tell that to the states who get their water from the Colorado River. The same ones who just had to hammer out a new agreement on water usage with a lot of cuts.
While your claim may or may not be true, this planet has never been host to so many humans who use water without thinking of the consequences.

Not sure how you can be serious about that statement Cummins. The comment about population growth and drought (especially in the US Southwest and Colorado river drainage) are spot on.
Or you can bury your head in the sand and not acknowledge the fact of a 20 year drought.

I consider myself an experienced RV guy and used to belong to the water, water, water crowd but that doesn't mean I have to continue on that path. After reading about various water shortages across the country, I'm perfectly happy with using a probiotic in the tank and conserving water.
Calcium Nitrate is the chemical often used in black tank treatments. It is also used in wastewater treatment plants for among other things - guess what - odor control. It does not kill the bacteria beneficial to breaking down waste. The perfume smelly additives are generally organic citrus products and similarly harmless. Use the stuff if you want, or not, whatever floats your boat.
RVs have holding tanks not septic systems. The holding tanks aren't designed for decomposition as nothing stays there that long.

This is quite a funny debate ,as we experienced RV guys know , water ,water ,water .I have used those drop in packets off ,and on for years. They make little difference , if any .

My in-store receipt says otherwise. I actually emailed Marcus because the in-store member price was $3 higher than the online price.
Member discounts are still in effect in store. Online discounts are not.

No more member discounts in stores
This just happened recently. I went into a Camping World today to check out a possible major purchase and to actually purchase something much cheaper. While at the register I provided my membership info and asked for clarification on the major purchase - if the priced was with or without my discount. I was politely informed that discounts have been terminated. They're now issuing reward points whenever you make a purchase, which can be redeemed on future purchases.
It's amazing that I can get a dozen emails a year about stuff I don't need but they couldn't be bothered to notify members of this major change.

Fulltiming since 2006. Started out NOT using chemicals. Very conscientious about dumping and flushing when needed. Then I had an issue with the black tank valve not opening completely so I started using Tank Techs RX (Now Just Science). It worked great to liquify the solids and eliminate all the wasted water from refilling and flushing the tank. I'll do a full flush maybe once or twice a year now.

This seems to be very common any more: misinformation passed along by people who supposedly know better. From what I've seen, many of the RV newsletters and online RV advice columns are written by anyone who contributes. I doubt if there is any vetting happening now. To paraphrase a president: "Doubt, and verify". :)
I read the original article and responded directly to them trying to set the record straight. We'll see if they 'clarify' in the next issue.
